Backed by next generation DAG tech and potassium, BANANO is a cryptocurrency getting into your wallet fast, feelessly, and with loads of fun. BANANO is distributed for free to everyone. Its easy-to-use technology onboards normies and crypto-noobs without the usual hassle by combining a fun attitude with gamification, and then educate them to handle crypto in general in a responsible way.

Recently we announced yet another BANANO airdrop for Nano hodlers. Payouts were delayed due to different reasons as explained here. Now, the airdrop is starting to roll out! If you were smart enough to not keep your coins on an exchange, check your wallet soon! Details below!

Airdrop payments for NANO holders are starting to roll out now

The overall payment process will take roughly 2 days, starting with the smallest payments first. You can watch the progress on a block explorer. The airdrop payment amount is based on a fixed multiplier of NANO:BANANO. If you matched our criteria for the “small NANO representative incentive”, the multiplier was much higher. Payments below 5 Banano were omitted to save on ledger spam. Custodial, malicious and spam accounts were disqualified. Users who have access to their own private keys did not even have to do anything in order to receive an airdrop. The total amount of BAN paid out is ~12 Million. Average payment per qualifying account is 230 BANANO.

You can use your airdrop to hodl, tip to friends/family/strangers, or trade for goods/services/currencies. Or you can donate it to the Banano Booster prize pool, the new NANO&BANANO hackathon! Your donation will be matched by another 50% from the BANANO dev fund and the top 30 donors will receive a seat in the jury. More details in the “Banano Booster” announcement.

Instructions on how to claim the airdrop are below. There is no time limit to claim the funds, they are yours as soon as you see them on the block explorer. To see them, simply copy your nano address and swap nano_ for ban_ …You just need to wait for all 50000 payments to be finished if you are a NANO whale.

How do I claim the Banano?

There’s different ways how you can safely access your BANANO airdrop. If your accounts qualified, there’s no need to hurry, the funds are yours and they won’t expire. Be cautious when dealing with seeds and private keys. Entering these into a malicious app or website can cause a third party to access your accounts.

Option 1: Importing the Seed

Export the Private Key or Mnemonic Phrase from your Nano Wallet
Import the Private Key or Mnemonic Phrase into your Banano Wallet (for example Kalium, Vault for most convenience). There also are more secure ways to deal with this but they require a more complex process. The process will also be different for Ledger Nano Hardware Wallet users because of the way how it generates keys and addresses. The Ledger Nano procedure is not being covered by this announcement. The Ban_address version of your Nano_wallet will be holding the Banano. Withdraw them or hodl them until you want to use them.

note that seeds/mnemonics can be used on both blockchains and the address stays the same. The only thing that changes is the nano_ or ban_ prefix of the public address.

Option 2: Sweeping the Wallet Balance with Kalium

Sweeping means that the whole account balance is sent to another account, so the old key is not required anymore after sweeping.

Export the Private Key or Mnemonic Phrase from your Nano Wallet
Locate Kalium’s “Load from Paper Wallet” option in the side panel
Select “Manual Entry”
Paste the Private Key or Mnemonic Phrase to your Nano Wallet
You will be prompted to withdraw the Balance of the inputted Seed to the Banano wallet you are currently signed in to within the app.

We hope that through incentives like this airdrop, more users will be encouraged to remove their funds from the exchanges and truly take control of their coins in the way they were designed to be used. Decentralized digital currency is works great when there’s no fees and fast transaction speed.
